International Moving Process

As you prepare to move out of the country, be sure that all of the logistics you need for traveling and crossing the border are taken care of. This includes:

Passport and other forms of ID. Make sure all of your documents are up-to-date and valid.
Visa. Are you required to have a visa for the country to which you are moving? Be sure to request a visa in advance.
Immunization records. Have a copy of your updated immunization records and yellow card to show if necessary when crossing borders.

When you have all of your paperwork in order, follow these international moving tips to ensure a smooth transition to your new location:

Appoint a trusted friend or family member in your current country to assist with the transition. This person will be your main point of contact in case you have lost mail and can help manage bills that were forgotten or missed at your previous location.
Arrange to have utilities set up before you arrive at the new house, and cancel utilities at the old one. This will save time and energy after a long journey to your new home.
Change your address. Contact your bank, Secretary of State and any memberships or accounts that have your address. It’s best to get a head start on redirecting your mail to avoid items getting lost or bills getting missed.
Keep all sensitive documents with you, like passports, birth certificates, marriage licenses, etc. Have a safe and secure carrier for all of your documents that is easily carried on your person during the moving process.

The whole procss with Turner Moving & Storage has been smooth as silk! First an appraiser came to the house to see what we would be moving and a date... was scheduled. Because our new home was not yet ready to move into, Turner Moving worked with us to change our plan and arranged to store our items until a later date.On moving day, Brandon, Russ, Juan and Abraham arrived on time with the moving vans. They walked through the house with me for an overview on what to pack and what not to pack, then they got busy! It was amazing to watch them work! They were all so pleasant and, if they were unsure about something, they came to me and asked for verification, something that I greatly appreciated!The first day was packing boxes. The next day the trucks were loaded. The guys went the extra mile by loading up the outdoor furniture in the back of the truck and delivering it to the new house where they carried it UP all the stairs and placed it around the pool! Turner Moving fulfilled all my expectations. The move went as scheduled with no issues. Their local team and driver are the best, with the four men loading the truck accomplishing the task in less than 5 hours. Nothing was damaged, broken or lost. From the estimators visit, to the office staff, to the driver, everyone worked together and checked on us every step of the way to guarantee success. After reading reviews and not finding a single negative one, I knew I had found the right company and did not look any further. We moved from California to Michigan and so it was a costly move, but one I felt was fairly priced.
