Warehouse dock receiving is the point in the logistics process where carriers hand off materials at the receiver’s warehouse facility for storage and/or delivery. “A receiver (or a receiving warehouse) is a specific type of warehouse that receives items from freight trucks, carefully inspects them upon arrival to ensure there are no damages, and then securely stores them on your behalf,” explains Dakota Design Company. What Are The Steps Of The Warehouse Receiving Process In Napa Valley?

The typical warehouse dock receiving process starts when your shipment is delivered to the facility. “Incoming materials must be checked for accuracy against the purchase order, and any damaged or incorrect items must be documented,” explains Supply Chain Management Education. Each item is logged into their reporting system with details like arrival date, condition, and customer information. Finally, the materials are then stored in designated areas until the customer is contacted about pickup or delivery arrangements.

When your packages arrive at Turner Moving & Storage’s Napa Valley facility, we begin with dock receiving to kick off the warehousing and distribution process:

  1. Receive — Receiving is charged at a flat rate per delivery. Unloading assistance is available for an additional fee.
  2. Inspect — Every box is closely inspected for damage; further inspection is optional at an additional hourly rate. Any damage will be properly documented and reported.
  3. Store — If items are not picked up within 72 hours of delivery notice, they will be inventoried to prepare for storage (with a minimum of 2 weeks) and charged accordingly.
  4. Deliver — Delivery is optional and available to Napa, Sonoma, Solano, and Marin counties for an additional fee.
  5. Install — Great for interior design or home renovations. Our professionals will happily set up your space for you, from furniture assembly to placing finishing touches. Our only limitation is the installation of wall fixtures.
  6. Cleanup —  We want to leave your space in the best condition, so we always clean up after ourselves. Choose our junk removal services to help dispose of renovation waste.

    • Storage (2-week min) — 
      • Inventory: $70 per hour and $95 each time we handle a vault for loading or unloading 
      • Regular vaults: $92 per month
      • Sofa quadrants: $40 per month
      • Pallets: $35 per month
  • Delivery (4-5 hour min, depending on location) — 
    • 1-truck & 1-man: $140 per hour
    • Move Management Fee: $125+ per delivery
    • Additional man: $70 per hour
    • Additional truck: $70 per hour, $135+ petroleum fee
