Moving from Cali to MA and Turner Movers is the way to do it! Amanda Whorton at the Turner Moving office was fabulous from start to finish. She was good humored and Professional! Always quick to respond to questions, quick to edit items that we wanted to add or take away. Followed up to make sure we were happy with service from pick up to delivery and billing. Pete Castillo was our driver for pick up to delivery, he was very kind and experienced. Always made sure to communicate the timeline. Even made sure to check the street early to make sure the truck would fit and not disrupt the neighbors. We have a big house with lots of items, and he made sure to have enough people to get the job done! This process is very stressful and Turner Movers made it as seamless as possible. I would recommend them to my friends and family!

Interesting Things to Know About Fairfield

A little local knowledge can make your move feel a bit more like an adventure. Here are a few facts about your new hometown:

  • Fairfield was founded in 1856 by clipper ship captain Robert H. Waterman, who named the town after his hometown of Fairfield, Connecticut. It became an incorporated city in 1903 and serves as the county seat of Solano County.
  • The city is home to the Jelly Belly Candy Company headquarters, where visitors can take a free factory tour and see how the famous jelly beans are made.
  • Fairfield hosts Travis Air Force Base, one of the largest air mobility bases in the country, which has shaped the local economy and community since World War II.
  • The city’s population has grown substantially over the past few decades, passing 120,000 residents in recent years, making it one of the larger cities in the North Bay region.
  • Fairfield enjoys a Mediterranean climate with warm, dry summers and mild, rainy winters, giving movers a wide window of good weather for a move most months of the year.

How You Should Plan Your Fairfield Move

A little planning goes a long way toward a stress-free move day. Here are some steps to keep your Fairfield move on track:

  1. Book early, especially in summer. Moving companies fill up fast during peak season, which runs roughly from May through September. Reserving your date several weeks ahead helps you lock in the crew and time slot you want.
  2. Get an in-home or virtual estimate. A detailed walkthrough helps your mover provide an accurate quote and avoid surprise charges on moving day.
  3. Plan around I-80 traffic. Fairfield’s location on Interstate 80 is convenient, but the corridor can see heavy congestion during commute hours. Scheduling your move outside peak traffic windows can save time.
  4. Sort and declutter before packing. Moving is a good chance to donate or sell items you no longer need, which can lower your overall moving costs.
  5. Ask about storage if your move-in date is not set. If there is a gap between move-out and move-in, short-term storage keeps your belongings safe until you are ready.
  6. Confirm licensing and insurance. Always verify that your mover holds a valid USDOT number and carries proper insurance before you sign a contract.

According to FreightWaves Checkpoint — a data insights firm across moving, car shipping, and trucking industries — local moves within Fairfield range from $309 to $3,345, depending on logistics.

Turner Moving & Storage focuses on transparency and precision. Our pricing is straightforward and competitive, reflecting our commitment to fair business practices. We provide detailed and accurate estimates through both in-home and virtual surveys to ensure you understand all potential costs upfront. We never provide estimates blindly over the phone, ensuring there are no surprises on your bill.

Most moving experts recommend booking a local move about two to four weeks in advance and a long-distance move at least four to eight weeks in advance. During the busy summer season, it is smart to add extra time to that window since crews and trucks book up quickly.

Late fall through early spring tends to bring lower demand and more flexible scheduling, since the busiest moving months nationwide fall between May and September. If your move date is flexible, an off-peak move can mean more availability and better pricing.

In accordance with government regulation, all California moving companies must provide valuation coverage at 60 cents per pound per item. There are generally two types of valuation for a move:

  • Limited Liability Coverage, which is the minimum required by law
  • Full Value Protection, which provides more comprehensive coverage with full reimbursement, repair, or replacement for all damaged items.

Turner Moving & Storage complies with these regulations and offers both Limited Liability Coverage and Full Value Protection options. You can also declare your high-value belongings as Items of Extraordinary Value, which are items worth over $100 per pound per item.

Be sure to speak with your dedicated moving specialist about this. “You’ll be fully informed of your coverage options to choose the best protection for your valuables,” emphasizes our CEO, Randy Turner.
