Moving from Cali to MA and Turner Movers is the way to do it! Amanda Whorton at the Turner Moving office was fabulous from start to finish. She was good humored and Professional! Always quick to respond to questions, quick to edit items that we wanted to add or take away. Followed up to make sure we were happy with service from pick up to delivery and billing. Pete Castillo was our driver for pick up to delivery, he was very kind and experienced. Always made sure to communicate the timeline. Even made sure to check the street early to make sure the truck would fit and not disrupt the neighbors. We have a big house with lots of items, and he made sure to have enough people to get the job done! This process is very stressful and Turner Movers made it as seamless as possible. I would recommend them to my friends and family!

What to Expect: Office Moves by Size

Office moving timelines, costs and complexity vary significantly based on your team size, distance and if you are adding additional services. Understanding what to expect helps you plan budgets, coordinate schedules, and choose the right moving strategy. Below are Angi estimates based on three different scenarios.

Small Office: 1–10 Employees

Typical Setup: Single suite or small office space with modest furniture, 1–5 computers, basic filing systems, and minimal specialized equipment.

Timeline & Duration

Move Duration: 4–8 hours (typically one day)

Planning Timeline: 4–6 weeks’ advance notice

Setup Time: Your team can be partially operational the next day; fully operational within 2–3 days

Crew & Resources

  • 2–3 professional movers plus a supervisor
  • One moving truck (standard cargo truck)
  • Basic equipment: dollies, pads, basic packing materials
  • No special equipment typically needed

Typical Cost Range

Moving Services: $1,500–$4,000 (labor + transportation)

IT Coordination (optional): $300–$1,000

Total Estimated Cost: $1,800–$5,000

Medium Office: 20–50 Employees

Typical Setup: Multiple-suite or small office building with 20–40 workstations, modular furniture systems, multiple servers/networked computers, organized filing systems and potential specialized equipment (printers, copiers, security systems).

Timeline & Duration

Move Duration: 1.5–2 days (half-day setup day plus full day move)

Planning Timeline: 8–12 weeks advance notice

Setup Time: Team can resume core functions by day 3; fully operational by day 5

Crew & Resources

  • 4–6 professional movers plus one dedicated project manager
  • Two moving trucks (standard and specialty cargo trucks)
  • Specialty equipment: furniture dollies, equipment carts, anti-static materials, air-ride suspension
  • Temporary storage possible for phased moves or overlap periods

Typical Cost Range

Moving Services: $5,000–$12,000 (labor + transportation)

Packing & Supplies (optional): $500–$2,000

IT Coordination: $1,500–$3,000

Temporary Storage (optional): $500–$1,500

Total Estimated Cost: $7,500–$18,500

Large Office: 100–1,000 Employees

Typical Setup: Multi-floor office building or multiple buildings with 100–1,000 workstations, complex IT infrastructure (servers, data centers, redundant systems), modular furniture systems across multiple departments, extensive filing and records storage, and specialized equipment (labs, secure rooms, server rooms).

Timeline & Duration

Move Duration: 3–10 days (phased move, usually by department or floor)

Planning Timeline: 16–24 weeks (4–6 months) advance notice

Setup Time: Phased operational recovery; core teams operational within 1 week; full operations by week 3–4

Crew & Resources

  • 8–15+ professional movers (scaled per day of phased move)
  • One dedicated senior project manager (full-time throughout move)
  • Multiple moving trucks (4–8 trucks depending on phase)
  • Specialty equipment: heavy-duty dollies, server carts, equipment skids, packing crating materials, air-ride transportation
  • Potential: Multiple crews working simultaneously on different floors/departments
  • Potential: 2–4 week temporary storage for items not yet moved to new location

Typical Cost Range

Moving Services: $20,000–$80,000+ (labor, transportation, multi-day/multi-crew coordination)

Professional Packing & Crating: $3,000–$10,000

IT Coordination & Infrastructure: $5,000–$20,000+

Temporary Storage (extended): $2,000–$8,000

Project Management & Logistics: $3,000–$10,000

Total Estimated Cost: $33,000–$128,000+

Note: Large moves are customized. Actual costs depend on move duration, phasing strategy, storage needs and IT complexity. Regardless of the size of the move, always request a detailed proposal.

The Productivity Math: For a 50-person office, one day of disruption costs $10,000–$20,000 in lost productivity. For a 500-person office, one day costs $100,000–$200,000. This is why professional planning and phased moves save money despite higher upfront costs.

Solano County Office Moving Services FAQ

As noted above, assuming no additional services, moving a small office with 10 or fewer employees can cost anywhere between $1,000 and $5,000, according to Angi, while a medium office move with 20 to 50 employees can cost between $5,000 and $15,000. Details matter when pricing a complex move.

Moving servers, workstations, and routing new data cables is rarely included in the base moving cost, for example. Additionally, breaking down and reassembling modular workstations, cubicles, and heavy conference tables will add significant labor time. A two-man crew and a truck can cost anywhere between $120 and $220 per hour.

Make sure you get a quote for all services you need when you sign the contract.

The timeline for an office move depends on several factors, including the size of your company, the amount of equipment being relocated and the distance between your old and new offices.

Small local moves in the Solano County area can take between a few hours and a full day, while longer distances may take several days.

Proper preparation and scheduling with our team can greatly reduce downtime and ensure a smooth transition. Based on the scale and distance of your office move and your scheduling needs, our experienced team provides accurate timeline estimates upfront. “Our goal is to keep your business running smoothly while we handle the logistics,” President and CEO Randy Turner explains.

Since July 1, 2025, the Bureau of Household Goods and Services (BHGS) oversees all residential moving companies in California. This ensures that all movers meet safety and operational standards, providing better protection for customers.

It is important to ensure that any moving company you hire is both licensed and insured. Licensed companies are required to follow specific regulations and maintain high standards of service. Insurance protects you from potential damages or losses during the move. Always ask for proof of both licensing and insurance to avoid rogue movers who may offer lower prices but lack the necessary credentials.

At Turner Moving & Storage, we are fully insured and hold the following licences:

  • Interstate USDOT 70719
  • Intrastate USDOT 1919262
  • CAL-T 0190536
  • MC 87113

For insurance, we hold General Liability and Workers’ Comp. With nearly 80 years of experience in the moving industry, we understand the importance of full compliance with all legal requirements. “Having full insurance and licensure gives you the peace of mind that your movers are held accountable and follow ethical business practices,” says our CEO, Randy Turner.

Office moving companies typically provide a full suite of services, including planning, professional packing, equipment disassembly and reassembly, and secure transportation of office furniture, electronics, and sensitive materials.

Turner’s trained professionals handle every step with precision. “Since 1949, we’ve provided office relocation solutions designed to minimize disruption to your business operations,” says Randy Turner, President and CEO of Turner Moving & Storage. We also offer flexible scheduling to help your business minimize downtime.

To protect your property during transport, professional movers often offer valuation coverage options.

  • Released value protection: This is a no-cost, basic liability option where the mover’s responsibility is capped at 60 cents per pound per item.
  • Full value protection: Available at an additional cost. It covers repair or replacement value for damaged or lost items.

Turner Moving & Storage offers these options. In addition to being fully licensed for in-state moves, we also serve as an Interstate Agent for Wheaton World Wide Moving for long-distance relocations.

We maintain full liability and cargo insurance coverage to ensure your company’s assets are protected every step of the way. “Our experienced crew follows careful packing procedures to safeguard your belongings and reduce the risk of damage,” adds Randy Turner, President and CEO.

Turner Moving & Storage follows damage-preventing protocols, including wrapping computers, servers, and printers with anti-static protection and securely loading them for transportation. A strict chain of custody for confidential documents or data is also maintained to ensure security throughout the move.

“When we move an office,” explains President and CEO Randy Turner, “we take every precaution to keep your equipment and data secure from start to finish.”

While most Solano County moving companies have experience helping businesses relocate, Turner Moving & Storage has been doing it for nearly 80 years, longer than nearly anyone else in California’s wine country. That experience matters when you need business movers to help store your inventory and minimize your downtime.

Data security is a top priority, and we can work evenings, overnights, weekends and holidays if needed to keep you on your schedule. We will also work with you if your plans include a phased-in process, in which departments are moved at different times.

We use custom padding and packing materials to minimize static electricity, and if you need us to manage your inventory while the move is underway, we can handle that, too.  Click here for a free estimate.

Many professional moving companies offer both short-term and long-term storage solutions for businesses facing construction delays or overlapping leases. To maintain the condition of your belongings, these storage facilities are secured and monitored until your new location is ready.

For seamless move-out and move-in, we offer flexible storage options and in-depth inventory management. Our Napa warehouse is climate-stable and organized to accommodate everything from furniture to electronics. The 26,000 sq ft warehouse facility has round-the-clock surveillance, on-site security, and restricted access for maximum protection. “When your new office space is ready, we’ll coordinate delivery on your schedule,” Randy Turner, President and CEO, emphasizes.
