According to federal regulations, moving & storage companies are required to offer Limited Liability Coverage, which includes a baseline coverage of 60 cents per pound per item. However, once the items are in storage, limited liability coverage covers 30 cents per pound per item.
For customers that are moving more fragile and valuable items, many companies also offer Full Value Protection at an additional cost. If an item is lost or damaged under Full Value Protection, the moving company will repair, replace, or refund the current market value of the item.
