The Turner Moving and Storage team provided us with excellent service - from the beginning in Napa to the end of our moving process in Indiana with a successful delivery by our awesome driver, Pat. Amanda, Shalyn and Joel were always so helpful to explain the process and tips for a successful move. Their follow-up after the move goes to show what a quality customer service oriented company they are! I highly recommend them for your future moving needs.

Turner packed, then stored, a whole houseful of furniture and items for 2 years, then loaded it all for a cross-country move. They were very careful and took care of many special items, and we were happy with the job they did.

Colleen C.08/26/26

Turner provided a not to exceed estimate and came in significantly under the estimate! When is the last time that happened?
Professionals in the office and on site. the crew was very friendly and accommodating. I will use them again in a heartbeat!

Things to Know Before Your Napa County Move

Turner Moving & Storage has moved Napa County families and businesses since 1949. Randy Turner has led the company since 2001, and our crews have finished more than 27,000 moves. We’ve learned a lot over that time. Here are some tips you should consider when making a move in Napa County:

1. Plan Around Harvest Season

Locally, grape harvest time is also known as “crush season.” It runs from about August through October. Grape trucks and visitors fill Highway 29, and the Napa Valley Register says you should add 5 to 10 minutes to every trip during these months. Book early if you are moving during this period, and make sure your crew plans around the busiest hours. If they are experienced Napa Valley movers, they will already have mapped out the best timing and route.

2. There Will Be Hills, Gates and Long Driveways

Many Napa County homes and vineyard properties sit on narrow hillside roads with tight turns, gates and long driveways. A big truck may not fit. Tell Turner Moving & Storage about access when we do your estimate so we can pick the right truck size and plan shuttle trips if needed. Some wine country areas also need permits for large trucks, and we can help with that.

3. Protect Wine and Other Heat-Sensitive Items

Napa summers get hot, and a parked truck gets hotter. Heat can damage wine bottles, candles, electronics and wood furniture. Tell us what you have, and ask about careful packing, climate-stable storage, and our specialty wine-cellar moves.

Why Do People Love Living in Napa County?

Napa County is known for scenic vineyards, small towns and a slower pace. For residents, the attraction is the lifestyle: everyday access to experiences that many people travel here to enjoy.

Here’s a look at what Napa County has to offer:

  • Beautiful Scenery: Vineyards, rolling hills, mountain backdrops, and the Napa River give the county a distinctive setting. Napa residents have spectacular views of the Vaca and Mayacamas mountains.
  • Great Food: Napa Valley’s dining scene ranges from casual food trucks and farm-fresh meals to Michelin-starred restaurants.
  • Wine Country: For wine enthusiasts, living here means access to wineries, tasting rooms, winemaker dinners and harvest-season events.
  • Outdoor Culture: State and local parks and other outdoor spaces offer opportunities for hiking and exploring. Kayaking and paddleboarding on the Napa River is popular, as is Lake Berryessa boating, swimming, fishing and camping.
  • The Napa Valley Vine Trail: This paved route is separated from cars for recreation. Its completed sections connect places including Napa and Yountville, St. Helena and Calistoga, and Vallejo and American Canyon. The full planned route isn’t continuous yet, but existing sections already serve residents traveling to work, school, shops and outdoor destinations.
  • Arts, Music and Events: The area’s cultural life includes live music, public art, concerts, and seasonal gatherings. Downtown Napa pairs music venues with public art, while the broader valley’s calendar includes events like Music in the Vineyards and farmers markets.

Of course, there is always a downside. Napa County is one of California’s pricier places to live. Zillow reports a typical Napa County home value of $869,491 in September 2026, down 1.0% over the past year.

Frequently Asked Questions

Local moves with Turner start at $1,178 for 2 movers and a truck. That price covers 1 hour of travel and 3 hours of loading and unloading. A 3-mover crew starts at $1,474, a 4-mover crew starts at $1,807, and 4 movers with 2 trucks start at $2,231. Your final cost depends on your items, stairs and access. The California Bureau of Household Goods and Services (BHGS) says your agreement should include a Not to Exceed price, which is the most you can be charged unless you add services.

Book at least 2 to 3 weeks ahead for a local move. ConsumerAffairs gives the same advice for local moves. Turner suggests 2 to 4 weeks, and even more notice in busy months like May through September and harvest season from August to October. If your date is closer than that, call (707) 255-8600, because we can often fit in shorter notice when a crew is open.

Look up the mover’s license number on the state’s BHGS license search before you hire. In California, BHGS must license household movers. Turner Moving & Storage holds CAL-T 190536, USDOT 70719 for interstate moves, Intrastate USDOT 1919262 and MC 87113. We also carry general liability and workers’ comp insurance.

Basic coverage is included in the mover’s rate, but it only pays 60 cents per pound per item. The California mover booklet from the Public Utilities Commission shows how little that is: a 20-pound item would pay back just $12. Turner also offers Full Value Protection, which covers the replacement value of lost or damaged items for an added cost. Ask about it before moving day, and file any claim within nine months of delivery.

Movers cannot take hazardous items such as propane tanks, paint, bleach, aerosol cans, fireworks and lighter fluid. The same California mover booklet lists these items as not to be shipped. Turner also cannot pack ammunition or perishable food. Keep jewelry, cash and important papers with you on moving day.
